WHY CLEAN WATER?

NO SOURCE OF CLEAN WATER

In the areas where we work, people often have no access to clean water. Families fetch their water from streams, rivers and lakes that are polluted. They use this water for drinking and cooking. There are very few drinking water wells in these rural areas, which means very long walks to access clean water from whatever source they can find.

WOMEN'S ROLE

Women often bear the brunt of water collection in the areas where we work. Once a close source of clean water is provided to a community, it allows women the time to go to school and improve their households and lives.

DISEASE

Diseases from dirty water in the places where we work are the number one cause of mortality. A large portion of the deaths are of children under five-years-old. It is not uncommon to see children with bellies swollen from amoeba that are routinely found in dirty water.
